Badiula
Sustainable company
A Living Legacy
Today, Badiula is more than a farm and an agriturismo: it is a family that continues to believe in Sicily, in its rural culture, in the value of sustainability, and in the dignity of agricultural work.
A place where past and present coexist in harmony, and where hospitality is still a sincere gesture — like being welcomed into someone’s own home.
Sustainability & Certifications
The land is our first home, and we honour it every single day.
For this reason, all our crops are organically certified by Bioagricert, in accordance with EU Regulation 2018/848.
Badiula is also accredited with important international standards that reflect our commitment to environmental, social, and economic sustainability:
- Bio Suisse — certification promoting sustainable and responsible agriculture throughout every stage of production;
- GlobalG.A.P. — guarantee of good agricultural practices and traceable quality;
- GlobalG.A.P. SPRING — responsible management and protection of water resources;
- GlobalG.A.P. GRASP — respect for workers’ social conditions and wellbeing;
- ISO 22000 — an essential standard for food safety management systems within the agri-food sector;
- Accredited Educational Farm (since 2009) — official recognition of our educational and training activities;
- “Best Agriturismo in Sicily 2022” Award — recognition celebrating our commitment to quality hospitality.
Sicilian Citrus Production District & Blood Orange PGI Protection Consortium
We are proud members of both the Sicilian Citrus Production District and the Blood Orange PGI Protection Consortium, organisations dedicated to promoting and protecting Sicily’s agricultural excellence.
Every certification represents a promise: to continue cultivating the land and welcoming guests with full respect for nature, people, and our territory.
An Example of Sustainable Innovation
Over the years, Badiula has continued to evolve while remaining faithful to its original spirit.
Today, our farm stands as an example of sustainable innovation:
- we use photovoltaic systems and thermal boilers to achieve energy self-sufficiency;
- irrigation is managed through drip systems and company-owned water collection ponds;
- we implement Agriculture 4.0 technologies to monitor and improve plant health.
For us, sustainability is not simply a goal — it is a way of living the land with gratitude and responsibility.
The Art of Caring
At Badiula, sustainability is a daily gesture, a way of life, an ongoing dialogue between nature, culture, and community.
It comes from a deep respect for our land — for its seasons, its silences, and everything it generously offers us.
It is not a trend, but a concrete commitment to a more conscious and harmonious future.
We have learned that true wealth is not measured by what we accumulate, but by what we give back.
For this reason, every choice we make — from cultivation to cuisine, from energy to art — is guided by a principle of balance, care, and gratitude.
Clean Energy
A photovoltaic system powers a large part of the estate, reducing environmental impact and supporting a sustainable energy cycle.
Water Management
Two natural ponds collect and reuse rainwater to irrigate citrus groves and green areas.
Water Saving
Low-flow toilets and taps throughout all rooms and common areas help reduce water consumption.
Conscious Materials
Minimal use of plastic, with preference given to biodegradable and recyclable materials.
Farm-to-Table Production
Citrus fruits, vegetables, olive oil, and preserves come directly from our farm, closing the circle between nature and the table.
Recycling & Composting
Organic waste is reintegrated into the natural cycle as a resource for the soil.
Local Craftsmanship & Art
We collaborate with Sicilian artists and producers, bringing the authentic soul of the territory into our spaces and cuisine.
Cultural Heritage & Archaeology
For years, we have supported local projects and archaeological excavations, contributing to the preservation and understanding of Sicilian history.
Culture & Community
We sponsor local tournaments, patron saint festivals, and traditional events because we believe culture lives through participation, sharing, and collective joy.
LOCAL
CULTURE
For us, sustainability means living in harmony with everything around us: nature, history, and people.
Rural traditions, craftsmanship, cuisine, and local celebrations are part of our identity — roots that ground us and inspire us every day.
At Badiula, culture is not decoration, but everyday breath.
We support local artisans, ethical productions, and artistic expressions connected to the territory.
We celebrate patron saint festivals, participate in the life of nearby villages, sponsor sports tournaments and social initiatives because we believe wellbeing is also born from a sense of belonging and community.
We actively promote knowledge and research by participating in cultural and archaeological projects that tell the story of this land and keep it alive for those who visit today.
